Jamaica is world renowned for its pristine beaches, amazing culture and vibrant music. The local delicacies are also very popular among travelers, near and far. The flavors being just as diverse as its people; with each having a story of its own to tell, nothing less is to be expected.

Every meal that you indulge in will be seasoned and marinated to perfection. A  selection of the perfect blend of herbs and spices will have you savoring every forkful.

Today we will be sharing with you a few of these 'must haves', that your spice cabinet maybe missing.

Firstly, we have the Scotch Bonnet pepper; considered to be the most flavorful of peppers. It is very popular among the locals as it is used in almost every delicacy to add a little heat (or a lot) and mouthwatering flavor to each recipe. The most famous of Jamaica's foods; Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Escoveitched fish, Rice and Peas and Ackee and Salt Fish all have one common denominator and that is Scotch Bonnet pepper and its spicy delicious goodness.
Of course, consciously grown and carefully selected Scotch Bonnet Pepper is the very core ingredient of our delicious Sauces

Secondly we have the Ginger Root. It maybe considered one of the most versatile spices  on the list. It is often times used in addition to other spices  to marinate meats; such as pork and  beef and is also added to a variety of curry related dishes. The flavor is one of a kind and cannot be substituted. Ginger is also added to a variety of juices like Mango and Pineapple for an extra dimension of flavor.

Lastly we have Thyme. This herb ''likkle but it talawah''. It can be identified by its semi minty fragrance and  is popularly used in stews, soups and a variety of vegan and non vegan related dishes. It is known for its fragrant aroma and value added effect it has on each prepared dish. Thyme is very versatile and is used on a variety of meats not limited to chicken , fish, beef and mutton and is a very important ingredient when cooking the Jamaican Sunday special, Rice and Peas. Thyme is usually paired with scallion (Spring Onion) and is often times sold together at the farmers market.
